one thing about online productivity suites/programs, is that if your internet goes, you are essentially useless.

You're probably logged in to gmail? I am at work and got a login screen.

I was kinda expecting this ever since Google bought Writely. I'm not sure if I like the new interface, though.

This isn't bad for something quick, but I'd rather use openoffice.

:( I was hoping it was something that you could download like Openoffice.org

I've been looking for another free office program, I just hate Openoffice.org!

Google already knows everything about you...
It's been studying you, your every move...
Google loves you, and you better love Google back, because if Google can't have you NO ONE ELSE CAN!

nice... its not great, more like a glorified online wordpad... havent tried the spreadsheet though but i gotta admit its handy!
ive been using writely a bit recently and i like it... for example i started an assignment at home, did some work on it at work and then went straight to uni and polished it off and printed it there! all without sending multiple emails to myself!

the collaboration tools look good though i havent tried them yet

I don't see myself using this... I think at this point Google is doing stuff just for the sake of doing it.

Edit: The word processor that is. I have found ONE use for the Spreadsheet app.

Google's going to take over the world! Ahhh!
I think I'll stick with open office... for now.

they are doing this to beta test it for their own use.

and yes, it's clunky because of having to load things, so no, it won't replace word/abiword/etc for me. but it sure is handy.. and would have worked really well for collabortive efforts back in school.

I dont see the point of it. Web browsers are for browsing. What is the advantage of doing this online? I can think of plenty of disadvantages, no advantages.

Unless I'm really, really hard up for a word processor somewhere.
