What in the world kind of stupidity is this?? I read the explanation by the google rep and it makes absolutely no sense. Why in the world would google make it harder for people to find whatever they're looking for?

Many, many people use Google for things other than porn. They are trying to make it so when you search for "cream pie" you get the banana variety, not the semen. "cream pie porn" would result in the latter. It isn't about censoring; it is about making the engine more family friendly.

I thought that was what the whole 'Safe Search' thing was supposed to do.
Turn it off and you should get all the non 'family friendly' results in with everything else.

In other words, if you have SafeSearch turned off, you can still probably find anything you're looking for by appending the word "porn" to your search.

wow, so it makes it that much easier to track down your pron usage

Looks like it's BING from now on to satisfy my sexual deviance.

Has anyone checked, are they censoring cat pictures as well? Because that would be the last straw.

A simple search on nude shows what you are looking for... however I am not sure all the results are even legal anymore. :(

Bing still works just fine though.

HUH. I recently tried to do a Google Images search with Safe Search disabled and I couldn't.
All I got were the safe images.

Hmm, this might get me to change my favorite search engine... didn't think that would happen. I don't want to have to think if some oddity I'm searching for is caught in their special filters and what magic word I'll need to unlock it.

Exactly, it makes no sense to have to know what special words to include with your search to get all the results. That's what the "safe search" type settings should do for you.

Fail by google on this one.
