Google Now is pretty impressive man. It might not be for you, but if you knew how well it works in Namibia. A tiny country where just a few years ago you couldn't find street names on google maps. Google now can find me almost every place of interest when I go to a new town. It give me traffic info and travel time to my GF's house that I normaly go to every saturday (It knows that), It tells me when my packages are here cause our postal service is absolutrly useles and I always have to check if it has arrived, but not anymore.

I recently switched to a Lumia 800 till my Nexus 4 gets here and that is what I miss the most. Not the widgets, not some of my more important apps. Google now is what i miss the most.

I haven't found Google Now to be that useful. The only thing I like about it is that it gives me auto traffic updates randomly.

Maybe someone can tell me how they are finding it useful?

It isn't random and it you can tell it when to show it *hint it is in the settings. It tells me when I need to leave earlier than normal for an appointment/meeting if there is traffic that day. It shows me my packages that are in shipping to me if it is in my gmail. It shows me the scores of all my favorite teams. It shows me the weather for the week. It will also notify me if my stocks drop more than 1% in a single day, though usually I know before it does :) There are other things but they happen less often.

Google Now is great, but that last sentence seems a bit much.

With Google Now, you don’t pull the phone out when an idea occurs to you. You pull it out when an idea occurs to it.

I agree with the article, Google Now is by far the most innovative thing I've seen in the mobile space in recent memory. From the appointment notifications adapting to traffic to things like bus routes and times popping up near stops, this thing has been super useful.

lol yeah, i read that part and thought "who's idea was it to pull out the phone, bitch?!"

but then i realized that you can tell google now to alert/vibrate if it pops up a new card, so it really is the phone's idea :-/

Uh? I have nothing against Google Now other than that it does drain battery. I agree it's a great innovation. I do have a problem with this though...

I'm glad someone in the mobile space is still innovating.

I have a problem with the OP having to post that line. Yeah, Google Now's great. We can talk about how amazing it is, but of course we have to slip a line in and jab Apple? Har?

You pull out the phone when an idea occurs to it? So are they saying we want to be told what to do by our phone? Like...... a sheep?

Oh I went there.... but really I'm just kidding.

It has some semblance of truth though. My phone alerting me to leave a little bit earlier for my appointment because of increased traffic is a good example.

What, seriously? That is simultaneously incredibly awesome, and incredibly creepy.

I had something shipped, and it alerted me when it was en route. I didn't have to input anything. A card just showed up.
Awesomeness.

I like Google Now. It's pretty cool, but I don't have a whole lot of use for it. Only use it when I need to check sports score.

I've experienced all the other things except the stocks. How does it know which stocks you have?

It just checks your google calender for appointments. If you have a location set for the appointment it will sort out a route, look up the traffic and adjust your departure time accordingly.

Yeah it's actually fairly simple when you think about it, but bringing it all together and making it seamless and automatic is the real innovation.

Yeah I was  the first time it happened. I still find it awesome even though I know how it works.

The parcel thing is really cool as well.

It's in settings, you need to add those. Or I believe if you search for it on google, click add to portfolio it should... I think. But I haven't tested that theory.
