Gmail moved free webmail services from 2-4mb to 2gb +. They may not have been the first webmail, but they sure took it to a new level.

Their strategies seem to be taking existing ideas and improving upon them. That's a good thing in my book.

 
Competiton is great, as long as it doesn't down itunes completely. Actually, if it did for a few months that would be great, get those boys at Apple scared a bit which would probably result in some pretty nice innovation.
