I can take the heat. I don't really use google maps much. If they cut me off, all the better. A bit more google out of my life.

hmm, my IP switched to GMail a year ago. It uses a separate login than Google, so maybe....

I'm assuming you've tried multiple browsers and/or devices and had the same issue?

If possible try logging in using a device that you have never touched your Gmail with.

Just having an extra Tab open seems to work. Never use GMail, so it's annoying to have to stay logged in like this. I suppose I'll live.

I have a gmail address, am still getting mail on it. I have it set up to send messages to my ISP account, I never check at Google, instead use my email client locally. I was unable to login a few weeks ago. It's just nuts.

I used to do that. Pretty damn cool. Mostly (occasionally) I'll go there to figure out a route to a destination. Seems kind of clunky sometimes. I don't have to login but I'm probably automatically logged in, I figure. I need a Google account to access the data for my volunteer gig, we have a ton of stuff in the Google cloud since we're mostly working from home during the pandemic.

I nearly always AM logged in to either my phone or Chrome on PC but Maps works fine even in private-browsing mode minus the personalized/tracking stuff. (navigation does require location obviously)

They usually drop it at my neighbors down the road, despite their address number being nothing like mine. I have more than once been given a bum steer by a GPS system on one of my phones, probably Windows Phones, I went to Android only recently. One had me going in circles, the same circle until I just said, screw it, I'm turning here. I love GPS on a phone, but it occasionally just doesn't work. I sometimes go through those thoughts, do I believe it, do as it says or do what I think I should do. the answer is many times ???.

From my house, the GPS sometimes asks me to go in the opposite direction I know I should go. It's just nuts.

You should see some of the routing on Osmand which uses openstreetmaps. It'll have you make a right on a road, then immediately make another right to continue the same direction you were going, creating a little dogleg. I don't understand it enough to know why it does that, but the good news is if I take the time to figure it out, I can fix it for me and everyone that uses it. There's some other little things that bother me too, and some time, I'm gonna have to see if I can fix them.

google maps wasn't working for me on PC last night, but it was working on mobile. and it seems to be fine now.

of all the things that google has ever created, i think maps is the best.
