Google Maps plots through Closed Roads?

I used Google maps for directions. It provides them and instructs my to use a road that it knows is closed (it informs me in the directions). Why instruct people to use a known closed road?

I tried to manually plot a course to not use the closed road and Maps has me going in circles. Google directions sucks.

yup, give me a GPS with a marker for where I am and a decently updated map and I am fine.
