only shows lane closures due to predetermined factors like construction? Is it real time traffic?

Nevermind shows accidents also.

Yeah, It's thumbtacking issues on the map in Palm Beach County that are supposed to be down in Miami Dade. That's about 60miles off +/-.

At least it's still S.FL
 
Cool idea, but clearly poor execution. Will be neat to follow this or see if google comes up with their own traffic information in response.
 
Yahoo's had the traffic information up for months now. Very cool stuff.

But it's totally dependent upon the local traffic reporting systems for various cities. So if the data is inaccurate to begin with at the city level, Yahoo has no way of knowing. They're simply relaying the information. Google would/will be in the same boat if they ever copy this.

I've heard that the traffic information is gathered by the drivers who have the fast-track or similar devices in their cars. Stations along the highway track the movement from point to point therefore relaying the information back to the servers.
