Google Maps app - custom route

Does anybody know how to tell Maps to load a custom route (from the web) or allow me to modify the route in-app? It insists on putting me through the middle of SA and I'd rather take the 1604 loop even if it is a little longer.

You should be able to save custom route if you are logged in on the web or email the link.

I saved it, but I can't find any way to load it in the Maps app.

Edit: Emailing the route to myself doesn't do anything but load an empty Maps app when I click it.

From browsing the Maps group, it doesn't look like either way is an option in Maps. I guess I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way.

I tried looking up a way to do it in Waze, and no go there, either. Strange that the two top navigation apps don't have a way to do custom routes. That's either a terrible omission.

I think HERE Maps might have it in route plannerfeature, but I haven't tried their beta for Android (only used their Firefox OS and equivalent Windows Phone app). Trying it now.

EDIT: Weird, no official Nokia app, just a third party one
