I know high profile cities, especially the bay area seem to get updated satellite pictures on google maps every two years or less but I would like to know what the occurrence is for all the forgotten cities in the US. The pictures of San Antonio are about five years old and I often wonder if they will ever be updated before the end of the decade.

What city do you live in, how old do you believe the pictures are and have you ever seen more than two sets of pictures of the city from google maps (indication that the interval is not 10 years)?

Erie, PA. The pictures for that are old, and very low-res. Some cities have pics where cars are easily visible. In Erie's pictures, roads are only a few pixels across.

I'm in Las Vegas and they have street view, which I think is pretty awesome. It's one of 9 US cities with street view.

At least those are new even if the satellite pictures are not.

Most of the ones for Metro Detroit are 5+ years old. Roughly spring of 2003.

At least the ones of Google Maps.

The bird's eye view of my house on Live Search is about 2 years old. I can even see my dad working in the backyard at the time of the photo :Q!

Creepy.

This is especially funny because Chautauqua County, NY is mostly done in high-res photos. Or maybe this is just funny to me

They replaced the imagery in my area with older, pre-Katrina imagery. I have no idea how old it is. What's with Google and Apple going nuts with maps in San Francisco?
