Can anyone get one or just developers?

Anyone...

Found AT's review was updated for the new software, seems there's still WiFi problems, and Chrome is not great.

Hmmm

If anyone wants my code, send me a PM for 25% off a new Pixel C

I took advantage of this, it's not a perfect device (Wi-fi and NAND not the greatest) but still very good for the money with the 25% discount.

Don't really see chrome as a real problem - it's the same chrome as on every other android device, and there's plenty of other browsers available.

Picked up one also. Like it so far, though N is a little buggy and a lot of apps crash, but that comes with the territory.

Been using it for about a week now with the keyboard. One word...WOW! Whereas other android tablets feel sluggish and clunky at time with its half-baked UI (looking at you Asus and samsung...I've owned 3 of them), this feels like an iPad running Android. The smoothness of vanilla Android M mixed with the nvidia X1 and 3gb of ram makes this truly the top Android tablet to beat. If Google doesn't discontinue pet projects like this and continue on with its development, the future of Android tablets is looking very bright.

I didn't want it at first (because I've owned multiple tablets already not to mention an SP3 & ipad4 for work) but I've never had a good experience with an android tablet so I bought it on a whim. Needless to say, Android tablets out there are for the most part...shitty...though this one is not. I like that Google is taking the Apple/Microsoft approach by releasing their own hardware and it shows in the quality. First thing you'll notice is the aluminum frame is just spectacular, the novelty of the knock battery meter is AWESOME and the overall design is just constrained but functional. I'm not kidding when I say it's literally an iPad running Android, from the lack of external ports down to the rear cornered camera placement. It's just a very functional and sleek device.

When I first powered it on, it pull down a March update and I'm not sure if this was foot security or performance but the OS is just super responsive. Though there are those finicky apps that will hang or forced close, this is by no fault of the pixel C, as it also happens on my phone as well. I can't praise this tablet enough because now google actually has a true competitor in the tablet game and with N coming out soon, which will highlight some tablet functionality especially the split screen, the productivity and usability of the pixel C can only improve.

Battery life kind of sucks. The new samsung surface killer gets 10 full hours; and this thing doesn't even have a 12 inch display. Mostly looking for a speeder replacement for the samsung tab pro (12 inch) which is several years old now and rather slow.

I wish that code applied to their Chromebooks; I'd love one with 16 gigs of RAM, but there's no way I'm paying $1300 for it :D

What do you mean by sucks? Haven't had any issues with battery yet.

Same here. Cruised through my 8hr of work with gmail sync on, constantly replying to hangout and viber messages every few minutes, pandora playing the whole time...and battery only dropped 20%!! (with the keyboard attached for the entire duration)

I tend to use these things mostly on cross country flights; so my comment on the battery life was comparison of various models using a uniform tester (in this case engadget); the tablet I have is rated around 12ish hour and I tend to look for 10+. From the review (I obviously don't own it) it is not horrible battery life so suck was an over-statement it is just not as good as some alternatives. Also for myself I find 12 inch to be the sweet spot for a tablet.

Don't most cross country flights now have charging ports on the seats? I know that it has been pretty standard for at least the last year when I've flown.

Maybe I am unlucky; but I haven't seen them on most flights (a few do have them). Will be curious if the international flight I have to take this year has them.

What's that battery specs on these? Couldn't you just get a nice sized portable charger (battery)?

I too just picked one up. As soon as it fired it up it went though a bunch of updates and has been great so far. Would have preferred it to be a little lighter. Also the aluminum back is slippery so I purchased a cheap case. I really like this tablet feels as though the negative reviews were based on software that was not ready for prime time. Basically a great media consumption device.

It's just an Android tablet with a weird wireless keyboard. Don't see any reason for this thing to be as expensive as it is.

The biggest problem with the Pixel C is that it's just an Android tablet. I won't pay more than $200 for one, they're terrible value in general.

Well, it's hard to argue against your personal preferences. I never understood the appeal of jumping into a thread just to trash a product that doesn't appeal to you.

Been using it for a while, the tablet itself is great. Coming from an 8 inch tablet having the bigger screen is so much nicer.
Downsides:
-it's a bit heavy.
-I don't have the keyboard but move the magnetic bit on the flip cover I bought over the wrong place and it keeps asking to turn on bluetooth for the keyboard.
-google chrome isn't as fast as I'd like. It was pretty well unusable until I turned off safe browsing, now it's mostly fine but still suffers the occasional multi second freeze redrawing a page after scrolling.

Other then that very happy, it's fast, screen is great, audio is fine, battery life is good, wifi is fine, build quality is very good. Would buy again.

This is the cover I purchased:

Haven't had any of the magnet issues that I've read about with other cases. Since it's so cheap, you may want to give it a try.

I have one very similar to that - when I make the stand by folding the cover into a triangle if you don't quite fold it tight and it slips up at the back a bit I get the "turn on bluetooth" message. Best solution would be if they put an option in to stop it asking to turn on bluetooth all the time for those without a keyboard.
