Makes more sense than a virtual wallet, at least right now. It will help ween people off cards and train them to use virtual wallets.

Until Google works out the proper rewards program with the card issuers where you get proper cash back credit on your purchases, I'm not interested. That's the reason I never used Google Wallet and nothing on that link says that has been addressed and corrected. Until then it's piece of crap.

Awesome stuff. I already carry around an very slim wallet, so this would let me replace three cards (possibly four if it eventually does metro too) with just one. I like.

I think this is a really great idea, considering the paypass isn't that widespread yet. They need to work on adding more rewards cards (Walgreens, CVS, Best Buy, etc), and so that cash-back cards receive the full benefits as if the true card were swiped.

It's a step in the right direction for sure.

It works for Citi cards, but not other cards because it's handled through Google and not directly through the merchant. That's how my bank explained it to me. It's like using your CC# on paypal, no rewards from my bank since it's like deducting cash.

Until Google starts writing me a $500 check every year like AMEX does I wont be using it.

Ah fuq, had me excited there for a second cause I could replace 5 CC's, but not if it doesn't work with rewards. I only carry 3 of them.

Guess it wouldn't work with debit cards at the ATM either? Only carry my BofA debit card, would be nice to carry my Chase as well if the Google card could combine them.

right so once again a gimmick feature. sounds cool, but when you think the execution through, it doesn't even work....

This. I will not give up my rewards. I could use it for the no bonus cat items though.

I suddenly feel very old as I'm not sure I trust something like this. Personally I don't really care for the idea of trusting one company with ALL of my money info. What insurances do I have if my account is hacked and suddenly my credit cards are being accessed via someone else's card.

Guess we'll just have to see what security measures will be in place. I imagine you wouldn't be able to change or add a new wallet card without double verification: ie input password that's displayed on your phone screen as well as usual password. That type of verification is not new and will most likely be used here.

I don't even use CCs enough to benefit from this. Usually I just use my debit card so I only have one card anyway lol.

How exactly is this going to work?

-Okay you have a Visa or Mastercard credit card set as your default in Google Wallet.
-You stop at the front register at Costco and give them the Google Wallet card. -After a couple of mysterious looks at the card, the cashier swipes the card and gets tender declined.
-You then remember, fuck I need to change it to AMEX since that is the only credit card accepted at Costco. So now you have to load the Google Wallet app on your phone to change your default credit card while all the other customers in line behind you are giving you the evil eye look?

And no rewards?
No, thanks.
