google io live stream now

At work, so I'm watching the live blog on Android Central. And I'm incredibly impressed with what they're announcing. Android will now be a USB host device. Playing games on an Android device with a 360 controller? Awesome.

Rented movies will also be downloaded to your device for offline playing. Wonder how long it will be until rooted devices can just...."borrow" those downloaded movies.

I wish these things were available right now. I would take that Tungsten thing up to the hockey rink, set up my phone as a hotspot, and listen to some tunes while I play.

Any idea how many invites to Google Music will be available to non-I/O attendees? I requested a invite at music.google.com, but I wonder how many will actually get one.

Enforced 18 month after release updates on phones with compatible hardware.

That is the greatest thing ever.

?? Greatest thing ever? 18 months is FOREVER in the world of smartphones.

2.3 came out in December 2010. So carriers have until summer of 2012 to get it on phones? How is this the greatest thing ever?

This should be six months, max.

It means that manufacturers will support their phones for 18 months after release. update timelines were a different set of agreements, and I don't think we know those numbers yet.

Read what I wrote.

That means getting updates from vendors/manufacturers for 18months is a great thing.

Unless it's "up to 18 months", in which case things will be the same. The DailyTech article says "up to", though I know how often they get the little details wrong...

Thank you. I was trying to figure out how to keep up, and I was just going to view Google News and Bing News till they finally started posting articles. Much appreciated. 😀

Those 2 sites and Anandtech are the few main sites I frequent daily just because it's the only thing viable whislt I'm here. Haha.

EDIT: Well, there goes that. I just refreshed when they were starting to stream, and it said "CONTENT BLOCK. REASON: STREAMING MEDIA." Grr..

Hoping day 2 will still cover Android news. They're covering Chrome right now, which, I'm not interested in.

Thanks for keeping me updated. Let me know if anything Android related happens. I'm not that interested in Chrome either, and I feel like they've said all they wanted to for Android. 🙁
