google instant message service?

i just got a gmail account, and now i'm wondering what's next for google. what could they do to make it worthwhile? some ideas:
-offline messaging a la icq, maybe somehow integrated with gmail
-server-based message logging
-integration with orkut (their friendster)

anything else? it's becoming very easy to see google developing into the premier internet company. if they develop a web browser with gmail, orkut, and this fictional-for-now im service built in, and it was faster & better... well, wow. :Q

I don't see why they would waste their time integrating anything with Orkut. That thing has nearly shrivled up and died already.

Server- based logging? No chance in hell of me using something with server-based logging. That's just asking for privacy intrusions.
