google in foreign countries

I'm on a trip through europe and I like to go on the Internet every once in a while when I have some free time to do some web searches for whats good to see or do in the city/country I am currently in, but one thing google does is it automatically redirects you to a google site for that country you are browsing from. So if I'm in Germany and hit google.com it redirects to google.de and if I do a web search most of the results are in german and all the options/controls for google itself is in german.

any way to get around this?
