I actually like Google+. I don't have many friends that are active on it, but I follow a lot of interesting people that I probably wouldn't have on Facebook.

I really wish I found it useful.

I use facebook to talk to people I know
Twitter to stalk famous people
Forums to talk to strangers

Google+ just isn't something I can find a use for

People use social networks?

I have "active" profiles that I basically ignore 99 days out of 100. :)

I wonder if anyone gets annoyed by my lack of updates? I hope so.
The more some people post, the more I find myself hating this world and it's inhabitants. :p

Considering a full 98% of the stuff I see posted on my Google+ feed is from a Google employee acquaintance, I'm going to venture a wild guess and say that Facebook doesn't have much to worry about.

Interesting to read the blog post, though. I didn't know that's how Google+ came about and figured it was an employee project that gained traction similar to Orkut back in the day.

I'm guessing he had to write this as everyone at Microsoft must have thought he was the dumbest person at Google, the one who was forced out or couldn't hack it, so he had to go work at Microsoft.

That or it was in his employment contract. :p

I like that this guy makes so much money, that he can just leave Google because he kinda felt meh about it.

Social isn’t a product, social is people and the people are on Facebook

Google is only going to move people over by spreading FUD and direct attack-adds against face-book.

It's a war for hearts and minds and politicians and Microsoft know all about how to manipulate people: do what works, be evil.

Also, if G+ were a multi-level marketing scheme...

I rather like Google+, and a bunch of my friends use it as well. Isn't it still in beta?

The guy making a stink didn't even last two years at his job; he just sounds bitter that it didn't work out, but I hardly think he was there long enough to offer any sort of legitimate perspective about how the 'spirit of Google has changed'.

I don't use Google+. Nobody I know is on Google+. Why would I use something that doesn't have anybody I want to talk to?

If they are anything like my friends, they probably don't notice, because no one logs on anymore.

On my page, there are 3 types of people still logging in.

  1. Single men over 30, usually posting about a video game or movie they watched.
  2. 30 something women posting pics of their kids.
  3. Old (60+) people. For some reason old people love social networking now, and my mom keeps asking me to friend older distant family members that I haven't seen in 20 years.

Right?

Isn't the point of being american that we abandon our extended family?

I think the big issue here is simply that Google is late to the game. Why bother creating a new, but similar, product to compete with something that has had most of the market share since 2004?

G+ is indeed pretty cool, but I don't use it. G+ isn't as accessible as Facebook is. Facebook you can sign up with any e-mail. If you want G+, you need to get a new e-mail address.
