Google fiber and cloud storage

I was just reading about google fiber and found out Google gives you along with fiber, 1 tb of storage in the cloud. So basically with a fiber gigabit connection, google drive would be like a nas? Seems like an interesting concept. And also I'm guessing Google drive download and upload speeds along with their storage config would allow you to reach the max speed of a gigabit connection. 125MBps

Unfortunately, I don't think it would be possible to hit that speed. It would depend upon how close the site is, and therefore how low your ping times are. The Gb connection is great to multiple hosts, but you rarely get to saturate it without a lot of small connections. http://www.vad1.com/tcp-throughput-limit.html may help to explain the limits you will likely encounter.
