All the pics from Google earth I've seen are always daytime shots.
Is it impossible to get a nighttime pic from up there ? :confused:

Most of the shots were taken a couple years ago. At least one shot of an area was taken about 5 years ago. I doubt they are constantly updating the shots on Google Earth.

I know the shot of the area where my house is located was taken between 2001 and 2002. (I can tell by the work done in my backyard.)

If they took the shots at night you wouldn't be able to see stuff.

I don't think the satelite has a flash big enough to illuminate the surface.

No, there is a nighttime mode. To access it, just hit the little LED light on the corner of your monitor. Viola, night mode.

They updated the google earth picture of my neighborhood in the last month. We finished putting a shed up right after Thanksgiving and it's in the picture. I was pleasantly surprised.

Might not be much demand, so the satellite companies don't have the data.
Can the CCDs handle it, the difference between the really dark and a bright light?
Then you've got the problems of clouds.

Just add this.
