I never noticed until today, but when you click on a link it becomes a referral link before redirecting you. It doesn't do that to all links, and it only does it when you search from a Google page (not from the web browser built-in search bar).
For instance here I searched for Anandtech. I have my mouse hovering over the forum link (first link doesn't do it).
I click on the link and it becomes some kind of referral link.
It exhibits the same behavior if you right click on it (for instance to copy link) or center click (to open in new tab).
