Google Chrome often freezes/page becomes unresponsive in Windows 10

Hi,

I have a Windows 10 PC that was automatically updated from Windows 7. All was fine, but recently for some reason, the update process seemed to redo itself, and after this update, Chrome frequently froze, with pages becoming unresponsive. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, using the compatibility troubleshooter, as well as deleting the user profile and let Chrome recreate a new one, but nothing helped. The compatibility mode is also already unchecked.

What's going on?

It didn't revert to Windows 7, but it just automatically re-updated itself back to Windows 10.

I don't know what sites freeze on you, but one of the things your post reminds me of is a problem with Java or Flash player. Google has Flash built in IIRC, but you may want to look at uninstalling/reinstalling Java.

Not knowing what Windows installers are doing can be a drag, but the Event Viewer is pretty much unchanged from Windows 7, and Windows Logs\System might give you an idea of what is going wrong.

So far sites like Youtube and Google freezes, and after a while the site unresponsive popup appears.

Have you ever gone to those sites with absolutely zero extensions running (and still have the issue)?

Have you tried a different browser and tried to replicate the problem?

You should make a clean install after you upgrade, otherwise your bound to serious issues,a clean install is so easy to do,just save your import files to a USB or CD

A couple upgrades over here and no serious issues (just had to fix Windows Backup, but no catastrophes).

One shouldn't generalize when it comes to these things.

I'm using Win 8 and found it very well, I have no plans to upgrade to win 10, while 10 will probably gain to win better and I will upgrade my Pc 🙂
