Something strange has happened to the Chat conversations. My friend has a Gmail account and I would chat with him that way. He's also always had a Hotmail account. We've been chatting via Google Talk for years, never used Hotmail or Instant Messenger. Now, when I look in the 'Chat' section of Gmail, our recent chat conversations have supposedly been coming from his Hotmail account, even though we both use Gmail. Also, I can no longer email the conversation (for archiving purposes). All I can do is 'open chat', which just opens a tab for chatting. It even says on the right side that the account I conversed with is from Hotmail, which is clearly not the case. Any reason why this is happening? From my point of view, it appears as if Google has its wired crossed with Microsoft, which would be understandable if they were the same company.

All I know is that after their "upgrade" around May 10th, it is especially aggravating if you use other email clients (like on the desktop, phone, etc). Every line of a conversation is a separate "email" and instead of the subject being "Chat with Dari", they are just untitled. Total mess of organization and search.

Maybe Gmail should be back in beta status? :p

I haven't experienced that (yet). Like I said, the chats are now from a Hotmail account rather than the Gmail account, which is just weird. It feels like amateur-hour from Google...
