"Yahoo reports that Google has updated their privacy policy on user data collection. The new policy now explicitly states that 'Google may use personal information to display customized content and advertising, develop new services and ensure that its network continues to function.' It also adds that employees who violate the policy will be fired and prosecuted. They have also added a Cliffs Notes version of their privacy policy for those who don't want to RTFPP."

They made this clear with gmail in the first place. I have no problem with it. They aren't any less secure than any of the many other companies that have your pesonal information so it should be no big deal. Your ISP, at the very least ,has this same information. The only difference is that google is using it to send you info that may be relevant to your interests rather than random stuff everyone else sends to you.

Personally I don't care one way or another.

I wonder though, when people will start hating Google en masse like they do Microsoft. It's inevitable.

I am already hating Google... staying ahead of the pack

Reflecting the fact that Google has been acquiring and partnering with more companies, the policy now includes language on affiliated companies and sites, though it did not specify what types of affiliates fall under those clauses.

"The affiliated sites may have different privacy practices and we encourage you to read their privacy policies," Google warns.
hmm. So they share info w/ other companies that may have different policies. i.e. your info get shared with the world, no doubt.
