would using google.ca instead of google.com be a good way not to have to worry about the US govt subpoena BS
not that i'm seaching for kiddy porn, i just think the US govt is going way to far here.
 
First, your link doesn't work.

Secondly, the government simply wants a cross-section of search topics, to help prove a theory of theirs. They want NO info on individuals doing those searches, they don't want to monitor searches in an on-going fashion, they simply want a one-time look at random searches, and where those searches lead to. It's a reasonable request, but one that should be optional for Google to respond to.

Corporations should just hand over such things so the government can "prove a theory of theirs"? Why are you so quick to pull your pants down for anal probing?

How am I being the one probed here? The government is trying to prove that search engines like Google are being used by porn sites to direct traffic to their sites that should be going to legit, more child-friendly sites. Looking at Google's search patterns, and the sites that are brought up by those searches will help prove one way, or the other, that their theory is correct.

Like I said, it's a reasonable request, but it should only be a request, not a demand. I have no problem with the government going to Google to get this information, I do have a problem with them trying to force Google to give it up. If they have a concern over how the search engine works, then they should be working with Google to fix it, not against them.

No, it doesn't matter what google.whatever you use, as long as you are located in America and Google gets its ass handed to it in court, the US governement WILL be able to see what YOU searched for.

It's funny I can't even use google.com even if I tried it redirects based on my IP, and since i"m in Canada I'll get forwarded to .ca every time.
