Wow. Very interesting. I'm assuing that its related to patents more than software or user base, since they certainly have the talent to code that type of software without purchasing SageTV.

What patents would SageTV hold that Google would need? There are a multitude of companies doing exactly what SageTV does without the need of patents.

I agree that XBMC would have been a better purchase. XBMC is working on DVR/LiveTV features as well. XBMC is by far my fav of all the MC software. The only reason I use 7MC is for the LiveTV and network sharing with my Ceton.

buy elgato - they can sling live tv over wan - which 7mc doesn't do (since vista).

Too bad they didn't buy BeyondTV from Snapstream and then actually continue development and put a nice front-end on it.
