Google building free Wi-Fi national network for everyone?

Hey, if I can get online at speeds better than 32.2, I'd be THRILLED.

Google isnt the only one doing this... There are some counties including the one I live in that are planning on providing free wi-fi internet connections... Of course it wont be nationwide but it sounds good for those who cannot afford to get online.... I'm actually hoping it will result in my cable company lowering the price on its high speed internet.

The only problem I forsee is security. I wouldn't be doing any banking while on a free wifi connection.

Why? Your TLS/SSL sits at a higher layer than the connection itself.
I love irrational fears....

I did a quick basic search of googlenet and feeva and came up blank. Given the rapid cycling of OT threads, I'm sure many, many people never saw this. But, I'm sure you feel better for pointing out the search miss. Now, go buy some friends.

Good point.
Searching for "google wireless" doesn't yield anything of any use.
