For those of you who have signed up:
What do you have to enter when you sign up? I heard you have to fill out some tax form? Now, what if you make less than $600 by the end of the year, do you still have to fill another tax form out or whatever in April?

I'm only 18 and not too knowledgeable on tax info. Thanks

I'd guess they want your social security number or a federal tax id number.

They aren't required to send you a 1099 unless it's over $600, however they may anyway. You're supposed to report it regardless of amount.

You don't need to fill out the form again unless the data changes (new EIN, etc.)

You fill out the form when you first sign up (most likely, just speaking in general).

Then at the end of the year, they send you a 1099-MISC if you made over $600. And sometimes if you made less, just depends, some people send them to everyone.

There is nothing for you to fill out. They are just sending you a copy that they have also furnished to the IRS. The IRS system sees that you have X amount in income, and expects to see that on your return when you file.

Well since I obviously don't make more than 10k a year, I just get a form from the grocery store I work at, fill that out, then that's it. So what would I do if they (Google) expects to see what I made? Where do I put that?

The $600 thing is only for the payer. Google doesn't need to know how much you make or anything like that.

You're really overthinking it. It's as simple as it sounds.

The grocery store sends you a copy of a W-2, and sends it to the IRS.

Google sends you a 1099-MISC as well as sending one to the IRS

Now the IRS gets the W-2 from the grocery store, and a 1099-MISC from Google.

When you file your return, the IRS expects to see the $10k you made at the grocery store, and the $600 or whatever you made with Google.

If the 1099s/W2s/etc don't match what you put on your return, they will send you an information notice saying you forgot to include this or that and "fix" it for you and correct your taxes due.
