How's that battery life today sze? I've heard almost all good things about the battery.

After emailing me my phone wouldn't ship till 11/9 yesterday, I just got a shipment notification and a tracking number with UPS. Alrighty. Nice.

The Android 12 battery stats are incorrect. Yesterday I ended the day with 26% and the screen time said 5hrs and 36min. But today when I took it off the charger it didn't reset the guage.

For a usage perspective I had on 5g, Bluetooth, wifi, location, YouTube music streaming for 1hr, camera for 1hr, reddit, browsing and texting.

MKBHD reviewed the 6 pro and he only got about 3-4 hours of screen time but he's a heavy user. Most users on Reddit are also saying battery is alright, nothing to be amazed about.

I think the app dashboard shows more realistic screen time. Not very good if you go by this.

People on reddit are saying there's a clear plastic over the back camera visor almost like a protector..is this true or bs? Mine is arriving tomorrow 😬

I have the 6 pro and mine did not have any film or protector over the cameras.

I have a 6 non-pro and there was nothing over the camera. My battery life is just OK. 5G, BT, lots of syncing with OneDrive which is a PITA. It keeps putting duplicates of the photos on the phone in OneDrive and I can't find a setting to turn that off so One Drive is now full. I should have not imported all the pics from the old phone since they were already in OneDrive and Google Photos.

i will be so excited to see a AnandTech review, i have read a few other sites reviews for this phone and they seem like clown reviews in comparison to the detail AnandTech gives with each aspect like comparing cameras (my main thing)

like this review to get the weight of the phone you must read it in a story instead of listing a spec

""Something else the camera bar influences is the Pixel 6’s weight. At 207g, the handset is heavier than the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, as well as the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus. Pick it up and you’ll find the Pixel 6 is top-heavy, requiring a firm grip when held in one hand to ensure its safety. The ungainly balance, weight, and camera block jutting out from the back mean the phone is less svelte than other handsets. You may be slower pulling it out of a pocket or a bag, and find it catches on the way out.""

interesting tho because i do seem to flip the phone out of my hand a bit so a pixel might be bad for me.,

Maybe a bit heavier than average, but not a real problem. The camera bulge is a non-issue. Goes in and out of my pocket with no problem at all. But it is a big phone so not a one-hander unless you have long fingers. Being top heavy is not the problem- it is how slippery it is. It looks great but you definitely have to put a case on it or you will drop it and destroy it in the first week. Compared to my LG G6, it feels light years faster doing everything and Android 12 has a lot of nice features.

I did encounter a weird bug where my screen was stuck in 60hz mode. I enabled developer mode and turned on the setting that shows refresh rate.

I didn't get back the 120hz until I rebooted which was weird. It's also noted that it's either 120hz or 60hz not anything lower. I'm sure with some optimization updates they may be able to have the screen as variable refresh down to 10hz to help with the battery.

Phone is great to use and super snappy but the battery life won't hold all day with moderate or heavy use at least for how I'm using the phone.

Another thing that needs work is the front facing camera in low light. The pixel 4xl takes better selfies. Was at a wedding last night with my girlfriend and all of our selfie pictures are blurry and smoothened out because the venue didn't have lots of natural light, was a bit dark. This also goes for the regular camera, unless you are shooting in night mode.

Hopefully the ai and camera updates will come along because this was a bit upsetting becoming from the pixel 4xl.

After using this phone for a few days, if I had known how really crappy the fingerprint reader is, I wouldn't have gotten it. It is always a couple of tries to get it to unlock. My old G6 was on the back of the phone and it was just a touch to unlock. The latest flagship phone from a major tech company should not have problems like this...

Yea the sensor they use which is optical, only two companies make those optical sensors and it's not good as the Samsung ultra sensors the s21 ultra has for example.

I removed and redid my thumbs, twice each for left and right and now it's much better. You have to hold it a bit longer on the screen. Try adding your thumbs twice or if not, redo the finger print registration.

The more you use it, it should learn how you are pressing to unlock.

I hope this is something they can speed up by either speeding up the animation, or somehow optimizing the sensor if that's even possible.

I've re-registered my thumb print 3 times now and it is still not very good. Occasionally it will unlock on the first try, but usually takes 2, sometimes 3. Really annoying when I see something I want to take a picture of and want it to unlock instantly. Hopefully, they can do better than this because I can't recommend the phone to anyone as it is now.

The in screen FPS was my biggest concern. The biggest pixel subreddit is like 50-50. Some people say it's a bit slower but they get it to work well. The rest don't like it.

I definitely prefer a rear FPS anyway. I was disappointed they went this route

I loved the fingerprint reader on the 2xl or 3xl it was so fast. My experience with the 6 pro reader is decent, but still inconsistent.

You definitely need to hold the thumb on it longer and this can cause inconsistencies when you are trying to quickly unlock the phone.

You do have 14 days to return the phone. I'm thinking about it but I do enjoy it a lot compared to my 4xl. The screen and size, the 120hz and smoothness makes it enjoyable to use with pure Android.

I can't tell how the finger print reader will fair long term or if the battery life will get better despite that they used an older 5g modem, or if they will fix the front facing camera with updates because I feel like the 4xl selfie camera took better pictures in scenarios where you had less light compared to the 6 pro.

I really don't want to return it because I've been looking to upgrade for a long time as my 4xl was on its way out. No way I'm going iPhone or Samsung so I don't really have a choice and I don't like the one plus phones.

I hope they can optimize everything nicely including the fp reader and battery life at some point.

I'm a light user- a few calls each day, look stuff up, a few texts, pictures, check the weather, etc. I'm on day 2 and still have 46% at 11:20pm. So, no complaints on battery. With as many complaints as there are on review sites and reddit, its hard to imagine they aren't working on a fix for the FP reader.

One thing that should help is if you go under display settings, enable the option that says increase touch sensitivity. Seems to help a little with the FP reader.

I really hate the trend for the in screen fingerprint scanners, I never unlock my phone while it's laying on my desk, just seems like a weird angle to even use it, I always pick it up instead. The on back scanner is way more useful imo, I can unlock my 4a 5g as I'm pulling it out of my pocket. Part of the reason I got rid of my Oneplus 7 pro was the in screen fingerprint scanner sucked, hopefully it's not that bad on the 6 pro.

Here's the Anandtech review of battery life. I'm not getting anywhere near this on my 6 pro.

Digging through settings I'm also seeing that mobile network standby accounts for the highest percentage of battery drainage every day, more than the screen time.

Never seen a data connection heavier than the screen use. Even when using the screen a long time the mobile data standby time is greater...which is just weird.

have you tried setting the phone to prefer LTE over 5G?

I agree. Although there are times when I have to lift my phone when it's sitting in front of me at an angle to unlock it, so in those cases a front FPS is more convenient, a rear FPS is just overall more sensible to me. I mean or both. Both would be best. But if one, a rear FPS for me. By the time the phone is out of your pocket it's unlocked.

My 6pro is currently attached to my 5 and setting itself up. Will mess around with it shortly.

No I have not changed that yet. Im home all day on wifi so i figured there would be no need. A few other users on Reddit tried toggling on the prefer LTE mode and they still saw that mobile network standby accounted for a higher percentage of battery use.

One other bug I found is the screen will randomly revert to 60hz and it will need a reboot to go back to 120hz. Can't nail when it happens or if it happens because of an app or not, maybe because I transferred data from my 4xl when I set it up, not sure.

It's happened twice so far now. I think always on display may be bugged too because when the lock screen is active the phone sits at 120hz.

When the phone is unlocked at a home page it sits at 60hz until I start interacting with the screen. Very strange, I don't think you should need 120hz sitting idle on the lockscreen.

Phone is all set up and looks good. Fast and a beautiful screen. The fingerprint sensor is much better than I thought it would be. I set up four fingerprints - both thumbs and both index fingers - so no duplicates. I really made sure to get all parts of the finger multiple times. You do have to hold it down a split second longer than the rear one to unlock, but it's been really accurate. While walking the dog and taking out the phone to unlock it with my thumb to using my index finger while it's on my desk. The pressing the finger on the FPS a split second longer will become muscle memory. So that's a non issue so far. But yes, being a bit faster would be better. I was worried about it simply not working a lot.

I do see the bug where the display shows 120hz on the lock screen. Definitely a bug. I suspect that will get patched soon.

Can't comment on battery life obviously yet - or the camera, haven't used them except for one photo, which came out great.

How do you tell what the screen frequency is? Mine is a non-pro and is supposed to be at 90, I think. It is fast and smooth all the time but I'm curious if it has the same bug as the 6pro. My battery life seems excellent, maybe a difference between the 6 and 6pro...
On the FP issue, I set up my index finger for when it is on the desk and that seems to work better than my thumb which always seems to need a couple of tries. I'm in the shop about half the day so my hands are not always super-clean but that doesn't seem to make much difference.

Developer options, one of the first settings is to display phone refresh rate.

These phones are supposed to switch from 120-50-10 on the pro and 90-60-10 on the regular 6

They definitely don't switch all the way down to 10hz. They should but I think there is a bug somewhere. My lockscreen renders at 120hz and I've never seen the screen go lower than 60hz.

Randomly my 6 pro will get stuck in 60hz mode and I'll have to reboot.

Yes I mentioned in an above post that my phone exhibits the same bug as yours when on the sleep screen, it goes to 120hz. It'll get patched soon I'd wager..
