My coworkers all have a routine of saying goodbye to everyone, and then saying "Good night, John Boy", when leaving the office. It's amazing how few people know the reference.

That was a good show.

I recall some of the first episodes,
Johnboy was starting to keep a journal/diary,
and would lock his bedroom door,when writing in it.

His Mom was mad, thought he was doing "something" in there. :Q

The show was broadcast in black-and-white for the first two seasons (1960-1962), although all materials (episodes, Winston cigarette commercials, and opening/closing sequences) were always produced in color (thus the color versions of the "Rise and Shine" opening/closing credits that now air).
