This is on yesterday's local newspaper. Not www.goodguys.com.

No such thing as 8.1, 7.1 is the best any manufacturer can do. Even then, the 6th and 7th channel are mono. 650 watts? What is the RMS rating into 8 ohms? Post this over at audioreview.com and be prepared to get flamed for your stupidity.

"The eight channels of the RV-X3000 include left and right mains, center, left and right rears (surround), left and right front effects and a rear center. Six of these channels run at 100 watts, and the two effects channels supply 25 watts. 6.1 uses the sixth channel for Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES."

retail is $2000

this is a good deal apparently.

flame on...

Wow geespot....
Pretty quick to call someone stupid.
Here are the specs
RMS into 8 ohms is 100w for six channels at .015% THD.... not too bad
and RMS into 8 ohms is 25w for the 2 effects channels at .05% THD
If I had a grand, I'd be all over this one.

Besides DD/DTS 5.1, there are rear central channel, 2 front effect channels.

I am searching RX-V1, otherwise, I will buy this one.

i'm usually a really nice guy and never get into the flame wars, but i know yamaha products and i just had to look up stuff to make this idiot eat his words. :| so i went over to audioreview like he said and found this link: http://audioreview.com/A-V+Receivers/Yamaha,RX-V3000/PRD_125002_2718crx.aspx

for those who are lazy to click on the link, here's the blurb that i've copied and pasted just for you :):

Yamaha RX-V3000

Product Specifications
The RX-V3000 is an 8-channel receiver providing the finest performance and processing available for music and video sound. The 8 channels are: L/R Main, Front Ctr, L/R Rear Effects, Rear Ctr, and L/R Front Effects. The addition of front effects speakers adds depth to the image. It features Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing, Cinema DSP, Tri-Field Processing, Dolby Surround Pro Logic, Dolby Digital processing, Digital ToP-ART design for signal integrity, is compatible with Panja/Crestron.

one interesting note is that many people who posted reviews bought the receiver from different sources for a little over $1000. others paid at least $1500. imho, this is a good deal nevertheless.

one more note...out of all receivers on the site with at least 10 reviews, this receiver was ranked the 5th best.

so geespot, why don't you get your facts straight before you flame someone, especially since you've made only two posts and one is obviously unnecessary. you've been here since july of 2000 and probably read many threads and taken advantaged of many deals here. if you don't like it or disagree, be a little more friendly about it before you bring your trash in here. i'm sure many in this community would agree with me on that.

I'm with Beerinator, I've got the DSP-A1...Yamaha's amps/receivers will last for at least a decade, if not more...they are built to last! Made in Japan says it all. Note how the other receivers are built from Malaysia as mass produced models. Check www.yamaha.com for complete specs, product pics, and excellent back panel pics too.

at $1k for the rx-v3000, and after reading the specs., you won't regret this bad boy, trust me, especially coming from the Good Guys too. Brick&mortar deals for near high-end electronics don't get any better than this folks.

 and one toe ;)

Did i also mention Yamaha has a corporate office in Buena Park, CA (Knott's Berry Farm). Very convenient for Southern CA peoples.

Can you PM a business that is going out of business? Hmmm.....

1K for a reciver... Ouch! I paid 325 for my onkyo TXDS 575 built like a tank and still going strong. Yeah, it's only 85 Watts per channel. But drives my R2001 infinitys well.
Not much into 8 speakers. I bearly have enough room for 5 + a nice 12" sub. I am kind of suprised that they only made the effects channel 25W each. How would you even hear them with R/L rear and R/L/C each going full bore at 100W? Also, If you don't have a dedicated theator room then placing those effect speakers would place them @ the front door. I suppose I could ciling mount it. Then have to buy more wire... Oh JOY! What a pain. I think the wise decision would be to wait to make sure that is the standard then go with it after hearing it for yourself. My 2 cents worth.

I wish I could afford the A-1 reciever. When good guys get's it down to about 800 bucks... Let me know! :)

That is a great deal, however, you will not be getting Dolby Pro-Logic II and DTX 6.1es discrete. The DTX thing is no biggie ,however, DPL II is great for non dolby digital material. Gives 5.1 to older stuff
