I haven't been in this field for a few years and I don't even know the newest intel/amd CPU model. I rarely logged on this forum because of my busy schedule but I think it'd be fitting that I write this request here because my last part from my PC-hayday of yr 2000-2005 has just passed away.

Klipsch ProMedia 4.1.

Oh what a durable and loyal toy it was. Endless hours of pumping out music and 'fire-in-the-hole', not even a squeak.

So I am asking all of you young bright ones to suggest a worthy replacement since I don't know crap about anything PC-related these days.

As always. Thanks in adv.

Larciel.

Why not send it in for repair? I wish I had done that when my 5.1's stopped working. Instead I went with Logitech z5500's and while they sound ok for pc speakers they never held a candle to my klipsch.

I replaced mine with a Sony 5.1 receiver and a set of Klipsch HT speakers. Sound just as good as the Pro Medias and gives me a little more versatility.

Home theater, piece by piece. Its cheaper in the long run and better quality. Plus you got better controls, more inputs and outputs, probably longer life.

When my promedia 5.1 amp died (a common problem) I ended up getting a home theater receiver and powered subwoofer, but kept using the promedia satellites as they are great for near-field PC use.

For a good receiver I'd recommend the Denon AVR-1613.
