Flew from KC to Dallas Saturday morning and bought a truck. I own a 2005 Titan and while its a great reliable truck, the fit and finish just weren't what I wanted, so... I bought a 2008 Tundra Crew Cab Limited off a dealership on Ebay.

Drove it home and got back around 11 pm on Saturday night. Drove like a dream, very good ride, great mileage for a 5.7 liter truck (was getting over 19 mpg with a tailwind) Paid about 5.5k under book value. It had damage to the passenger rear door that wasn't repaired properly so I will get that fixed and needs tires before the winter. Aside from that, I love it so far.

How many miles? And has the front diff been updated?
I just got a 2010 Crew Max Platinum in December. If the diff has not been done, it will need to be done. Mine started making noise a couple months after i had it. Parts and labor are almost 2.5k to fix it.

I never liked the Titan. I test drove one and it was just too loud. They look completely dated now too.

Tundras are really nice though. The Lexus of pickups.

Hmm... I've had my Titan for a few years now, and I've been debating a change.

Just hard to pull the trigger considering that I don't owe any payments on the Titan and it's actually quite comfortable, just noisy. And shitty gas mileage of course.

What pushed you towards the Tundra, instead of an F150?

I was in the same boat. I own my titan outright but its noisy.. and has shitty gas mileage.. I'm talking 10-11 mpg and that's at 75 mph on the highway. Front diff is louder than I would expect and it has a drone at 2k rpm in the exhaust.

I like the styling of the tundra over the F150 and the ride is very very good. I've owned an older F150 before and just didn't like the fit and finish. My truck is a daily driver and after looking at a few tundras, realized its what I wanted. I like the bluetooth integration and backup camera and the entire rear window rolls down.

My titan isn't very comfortable for me. The placement of the armrest is in the worst possible place on the bucket seat as it is way too close to me if I'm wearing a jacket or coat and the seat is just not comfortable at all. The tundra is super comfortable and quiet over bumps. It doesn't creak, groan, or rattle even when going over potholes or speed bumps. It's a solid vehicle.

I don't know if it has been updated. I did check to see if it clicked in 2wd mode as the bad ones do and this one is silent so far. 112k now.

Nice truck OP. I go back and forth on whether I should have bought a 2004 Tundra over my 2004 Titan. I love my truck but the gas mileage is comical. I like the interior more than my TL. Power is amazing though. Can only imagine what the new Tundras can do.

My Titan just sits and waits to tow the boat or put my bike in the back of it. If it wasn't already paid off I would be looking for a change.

Congrats!

Wow... And I thought mine was bad.

I get about 15-16 mpg on long trips, and about 13.5 mpg on my commute. That's in 2WD of course. Haven't had to use 4WD mode long enough to see an impact on gas mileage.

Congrats on the new yota, sounds like you got a great deal. Big upgrade.

If you weren't so far away I'd make you an offer on the Titan. Noisy, rough, and tough as nails.

I have a 2010 Titan that I absolutely love, even with the noise. It helps that it's loaded.

My 2005 is mostly loaded. Everything except nav. It has the power rear window, sonar, rockford fosgate, driver's side storage on the bed side, leather, bucket seats, steering wheel controls, etc... It's an LE.

I drove it around the block last night and it could really use a good full day detailing.. Pull the seats out, pull the carpet out and pressure wash it or just use the carpet shampooer, clean it all up really well, wipe everything down, etc. I think it will go a long way toward selling it. The storage on the titan is amazing -- Tons of behind the seat, under the seat, and in the side of the bed storage that I am going to miss dearly.
