...she has done a lot to help people understand and respect the process of grief and dying.

Rest In Peace, Dear Lady

I may at first be in denial, and then I might be angry... I might try to bargain, but hopefully, eventually, I will come to accept it.

Ah I didn't know who this was until I read the article. I do believe this is sitting on my bookshelf - I should read it again.

I'll never die in a hospital if I can help it. I want to croak holding my kid's and wife's hands in a comfortable bed. I don't care if it means I die 3 months earlier.

I agree. She started the whole trend towards Hospice and is one of my role-models/heroes.

Nice sly summation of her signal contribution to our understanding of the grief process, Isla! Elisabeth Kubler-Ross was, in her own way, a giant.

All those who work or volunteer at a hospice are heroes who serve our country in the finest possible way!

As a society, we remain largely in denial about death. Advertising promotes the notion of eternal youth. It is a false notion. You can amass all the toys you want, no one gets out of here alive. God (or entropy, take your pick) does not make exceptions for any of us.

Coming to terms with human mortality is perhaps the first lesson in acceptance. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross outlined the almost universal steps we take to get there.

Hoka-hey! (It's a good day to die).
