Yeah, they are pulling the price off of MSRP. The price they would need to actually be to stay in business.

Don't really like CC, but a new one opened by my house just 18mos ago. The nearest BB is a pita to get to. So kinda sucks.
CD's and movies and such are 20% off
TVs, etc are 10%
Games are 10% GH3 is $39.
Game accessories are 30%
Car audio is 10% IIRC
Cameras are 10% iirc. Comps the same I think.
No outstanding deals. Did want to get some 360 pts @ 30% off, but long gone by the time I went. Nothing worth getting at this point. There are some potential good deals if you want floor models of TVs or the like. You get the open box price + discount. A samsung 50" 1080p DLP would be $850. That I would have snagged if I needed one.
Another perfect example. GH3 @ BB, $19.99

And that attitude is why CC is going out of business.
Above and beyond, indeed!![]()
You must be one of those customers that wants their dick stroked on the way in. Good riddance to ya.

Yeah, I lost my two best salespeople in that debacle. I quit later that year.

Nice try... but I typically shop online. And when I do enter a CC or a BB, I make sure to avoid the retail staff as much as possible - they're usually about as helpful as a canker sore. So keep your hands to yourself, please.

I think we can all reminesce to the days Comp USA started their liquidation.
First few weeks and even months you probably won't be finding any deals there.

I'm with Kalmah here. I've never worked retail but the things you see from your fellow consumers while at a store can be eye-opening. You may be a smart consumer but I'll bet there are 10 people in your place who are not - half of those are probably rude and were never taught manners. They look down at these retail employees from the time they step in the store. How do you really deal with that? And someone's gotta do the job.

Dunno what there is to elaborate besides boring stuff. I worked at CC back in 2006-2007 as a lead of a department. In March of 07 they got rid of anyone who was more than $0.50/hr over their pay band. I had just gotten my review and the highest score in the store, but my managers got some advance warning and didn't key in my raise so I missed getting fired by about $0.50. My 3rd best salesperson got fired. In may 07, my tech lead, who was disgusted by all this, quit.
In May 07, phase two was implemented and every single manager and lead in the company was fired, moved to a different store, or "promoted", my top sales guy who was semi-parallel to me (had been a mgr before and been with company a long time) got "promoted" to a supervisor spot of another department. My second best sales person who was also semi-parallel to me got fired.
I got "promoted" to a supervisor spot which meant I ran 3 depts instead of 1 but received no pay increase as it would have made me go over the cap and get fired. 3 of the 5 managers in my store were exiled to lower ranked stores, 1 was promoted (my mgr) and new "fast trackers" were brought in. At the end of July, I turned in my resignation and left.

I popped into our local Circuit City and was underwhelmed with the prices. Essentially everything was 10% off. I suppose that is an okay deal, but nothing really mind-blowing.

People are nuts. My local CC had a line to the back of the store, even with no markdowns.
All it took was the company going out of business to see its largest crowds in years![]()

All of the experts in Hot Deals will probably tell you that the best time to go to a liquidation sale is during the first day or two of Week 3, when discounts are raised to about 30% off. The selection is still pretty good at that point, but by the end of the week 3 half of the store is cleared out.
The second best time is probably during the last week or two when things are down to 70% off. If you're lucky (or you have inside help), you'll get there when they're dumping the last of the excess inventory from the warehouse. You might find a few gems like old software or printer ink scattered through the random crap that's left over.
