Since I am buying cdrw burner as they get cheaper, i have gotten rid of quite a few so far,
8x cdrom, 16x cdrom, 32x cdrom, 8x4x32 burner and a 24x10x40x burner down the trash bin, they're junk.
Why keep them when its taking up space? and not to mention they don't work very well either.

What a waste... 8x and 24x burners aren't that much slower than the 52x you'll see around today.

...and what exactly is the point of this post?

To prove that u're not too smart, showing off the fact that u stupidly throw away CD-RW's?

Exactly. I'm still running my 8x in my main rig and will continue to do so until gives up the ghost. It takes on average 8 minutes to burn a CD with the drive...todays latest 52x drives take what? 4 or so minutes? Big Deal.

I honestly hope you're not "trashing" them. At least sell them or give them away for the cost of shipping here. =D

For the amount of CDs I burn saving a couple of minutes per CD doesn't in any way justify the cost of a new drive. I'm just hoping that my writer will last a few months more when hopefully DVD writers come have come down even more in price and I can completely bypass the crazy speeds they are currently up to

If I had a cd burner that would last more than a year, I wouldn't care how slow it is. Mine all die after a couple hundred burns. I'll take one of those well tested 8x burners out of your trash!

yeah same here...I used my 2x burner well into later 2001 and gave it up only because it broke - it would never burned a cd to compleltion regardless of the computer or software used.

Then I got a 12x burner but gave that up only b/c i was building a new rig and my parents wanted it instead
