Yeah, but you get to be in Ohioi am still paying 80$ for 8 mbps![]()
I just don't know what people do with those speeds. I currently pay $25/mo for 30mbps and see no need for faster.
Tomorrow I am getting 200 mb internet but for $50 more I can get 1 gig, I am thinking it would be pointless though. How fast can I expect to download an Xbox One game? Right now a 40-50 gig game can take 1-1.5 days

Yeah my bottom package is 60/5 for $53. I'd gladly drop down to 30 for $25. If I still got the 5 up...
I would happily take that deal if it were available. Sadly, with TWC my alternative is $50 for 20mps (I get a negotiated promo price with 35mpbs for $45) or Time Warner's "everyday low price" of 2mpbs for $15. I think I could settle for 10 but not 2...

Steam and other digital distribution services is the main reason for fast Internet here. GTA 5 is a ~60 GB download, Witcher 3 ~30 GB, and that's hardly unusual. Even patches can be several gigabytes in size. Also, other family members may be trying to stream at 1080p at the same time.
With a 30Mb/s connection, a 60GB download would take nearly 5 hours - with my 250Mb/s Internet, just half an hour. Upgrading to Gigabit would cut the time to 8 minutes, not the same dramatic gain as going from 30Mb to 250 Mb.
Of course, GTA 5 took a day to download anyway because Rockstar hosts the files on a potato.
