Got a radeon 9200 running in my secondary rig and its noticeably slower than the 6600GT in my main rig. When surfing the web or minimizing windows, it looks pathetic. Can anyone advise me on an AGP card to replace this thing? I dont play games so stuff like framerates doesnt matter to me. Just want the video on my monitor from daily work to be nice and smooth. Thanks.

What are your system specs for the 2 systems you run?

9200 should have just as good of an image quality in 2D as 6600GT. Are you using an LCD monitor (1 with DVI and 1 with analog connection?). What do you mean when surfing the web or minimizing it looks pathetic? Neither of these tasks benefits from gpu speed.

right-click on My Computer
go to Properties

A window will appear.
Tell us what it says near the bottom of the window under Computer for both PC's.

This will give us an idea of the power both of them have. All graphics cards provide decent 2D acceleration. Your problem has to be somewhere else.

You are not a gamer and yet you have a 6600GT?

I'll never understand people, for sure.

I'd say that video card is an overkill if you're just only using it for surfing, I'd the same problem as you have before... I've a GF FX 5200 ULTRA. The problem is not the card. Adding more RAM in your PC will improve your system's performance

Or a messed-up driver/DirectX installation.

ANY card made in the last 6 years or so should be 'instant' when moving/opening/closing windows, etc. regardless of resolution.

My back up rig is a SKT 754 2.0Ghz Newcastle with 512 MB RAM. Also using an LCD, not a CRT. Maybe "pathetic" is a bit harsh but the card seems slow somehow when compared to the 6600GT. For games this makes sense but for web browsing and opening/closing windows it seems odd to me. Any recommendations on a better card for a good price?
