i ordered this template and it looks great! http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/47331.html

when i load it into Dreamweaver 8 at work, it looks like crap. i remember DW8 was awesome back in the days. guess its not good enough with all the new codes?

I kept trying to figure something out...but ended up just taking the lazy way and going with Wordpress. I asked for recommendations here and just about everyone just said to go with WP.

I guess it all depends on what you need it for. WP ended up working fine, once I found the right theme/template for the site I was redoing, which took quite a while.

Welcome to 2008. I tried loading a bunch of templates in DW (and another program I forget now) and that's how they all seemed to come out, with wrong formatting, tables didn't look right, nesting fucked up. I just chalked it up to being "you get what you pay for" but you said you purchased this one?

Seems like somebody's doing something wrong. If the template respects standards, and the editor respects standards, it should Just Work™. Have you tried using a text editor? If you're only making trivial changes, it should be approachable to someone with limited experience.

I edit everything in a Notepad ++. Dreamweaver is not the best solution. Why do not you turn to the developers of this theme? If you bought it, they have to help you. I prefer to use free themes from the official WordPress site. These topics have been the licensing and inspection.

thanks for all the suggestions.
in the description of the purchased template, it also recommends using Notepad++ as well.
i feel like it's 1997 all over again where i was writing code and hitting the refresh button to see the edits. ouch.
will try WP in the future....
