I'm dumping Logitech after consistent quality issues:

Does anyone know of a good travel mouse that rivals the Logitech Anywhere MX with Darkfield technology?

I really like the Darkfield's ability to track on glass and even carpet perfectly, and the frictionless scroll wheel is amazing. But the Logitech mouse is fundamentally unreliable due to a faulty mechanical switch that Logitech refuses to acknowledge.

The root of the problem behind what you are experiencing is switch bouncing. When the contacts on the mechanical switch connect it takes some time for them to stop bouncing off of each other. It can take anywhere from many microseconds to a few milliseconds unless you're rocking some black magic Topre switches, although those still have some hysteresis. Logitech simply set the debounce timer too aggressive on this mouse. In an ideal world you would be able to set this timer yourself, but that probably will never happen.

An easy fix is to search for a software debounce script. If your feeling spunky you could probably write one yourself in under 10 lines in AHK. I feel all nerds should have at least one software script in standby automating things, so this should get you started on the right track.

I use the M515 Couch Mouse, tracks on any thing, Scroll wheel functions as left-right, as well as up-down and is friction or frictionless (just press the wheel to engage or disengage clicking).
Completely smooth bottom, mid-size, with center button.
Has an on-off switch w/ internal storage for the unifying receiver, if you choose not to leave it plugged in.
2AA bats have lasted well over 1yr+ so far.
I've used the crap out of it with my laptop for 18 months and haven't had any problems of any kind.

Not current production, but you can still find them new, if you look.
This was Darkfield technology, before someone thought up the name to boost sales, and the predecessor of the current crop of Darkfield mice.
