Anamorphic means the movie will adjust it's aspect ratio to properly display on a 16:9 TV. If a DVD is not anamorphic, you must set the TV to 4:3 and zoom in on it to lose the black bars on the top AND sides. Doing so seriously deteriorates the image quality. If you leave your TV set to 16:9, the image will look stetched.

If you have a 16:9 TV, or ever plan on buying one within the next 10 years or so, make sure all the DVDs you buy say "Anamorphic Widescreen" or "Enhanced for 16:9 Tvs."

Good Will Hunting is a fictional movie but pretty good. A Beautiful Mind is the real life story of John Nash (actually he didn't get sick til he was in his 30's but it's hollywood).

Heh, the story it was based on is true, the movie is a work of fiction with major parts of his life left out or altered

Just like every other historical film made by hollywood. Have any idea how much they left out on Braveheart? I never watch any "movie" for history lessons. I read a book.

Anyway, I love both movies, hard to choose. GWH just because it is funny.

I loved ABM when I first saw it, but its replay value is quite lacking (to be expected). Its very good though.

GWH is just a great overall film; excellent acting and writing. So I'll go with GWH.

ABM is a great movie, but it's one of those "Shocker" type movies like Unbreakable or the Sixth Sense. Just because it came after those two movies, it was already copying what had already been done. In other words, I'm not into the gimmick flicks.

GWH was just a good movie.

One of my favorite bits from GWH:

Of course that's your contention. you're a first year grad student, you just got finished reading some marxian historian - pete garrison probably. you're gonna be convinced of thought till next month when you get to james lemmon. That'll last till next year you're gonna be in here regurgitating gordon wood. talking about...you know.. the pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital forming effects of military mobilization 2)actually i won't because wood drastically 1)wood drastically underestimates the impact of social distinction predicated upon wealth especially inherited wealth? you got that from vickers. working essex county page 98 right? Were you gonna plagiarize the whole thing for us or do u...is that your thing you come into a bar you read some obscure passage and you pretend..you pawn it off as your own...as your own ideas? just to impress some girls, embarass my friend? See the sad thing about a guy like you is in 50 years you're gonna start doing some thinking on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life. one- don't do that, and two- you dropped a 150 grand on a fvckin education you could got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library.

No, I just read Vickers, so I'm up on inherited wealth, hunting. But you're no longer the angry, brilliant young mind you once were, just itching to vent your frustrations. No, you stopped hitting the books with a vengeance, and now l've read sh1t you haven't even heard about yet. Face facts, my friend. You're just no longer that good...Will hunting. Now how do YOU like dem apples? ;)
