What are some good weblogs that are free and look good? I know about Xanga, any others?

Are you asking for references to weblogs to read, or are you asking for weblog engines? Your post implied the former, but everyone responded with the latter.

I assumed the latter since the word "free" was in there... What blogs are there that aren't free to look at? Getting the software to do your own is where the free seemed to fit best...

No, seriously. Unless you are someone vastly important, no one really gives half a sh!t what your thoughts are in any given day. Need to get your thoughts on paper? Invest in a diary. At least that way anything stupid you say won't be permanently archived on the internet.

Mambo. It's a content management system - much more than a weblog. But it vastly exceeds anything a weblog is and can ever do. See my personal site in my signature for a site with Mambo setup. It's easy to setup - long as you have access to PHP and SQL then you can set it up. BTW, I'm not trying to be inflammatory with my post - just stating what Mambo can do. Mambo is not phpNuke or a portal replacement - it's not meant to be and will never be - but it's a damn good system and I like it.

Tinkerhell - If you want I do web hosting, I can host your site and such if you're interested.

I disagree. I don't keep a blog, but maddox.xmission.com and the porn clerk diaries can be entertaining to read. :)

I would take him up on his offer for free web hosting, a very generous offer.

Porn clerk? Please do link.

I do think as the other fellow though. Basically weblogs are written by sad under-sexed and under-socialized sorry excuses for a hunk of flesh. But, I have this opinion having ready few of them (because of the opinion).

Honestly I read all kind of peoples' blogs. From strangers to friends of friends. It's quite interesting if you ask me.

They are quite "interesting," but it's the same kind of "interesting" as a train wreck or a gruesome accident. I read them all the time when I am pooping (Gotta get my money's worth out of my Sidekick!) and even after trying it for myself for a day, I could not comprehend the motivation to air my mundane life and all its dramas for all the world to see. They do offer one benefit - I don't think my life will ever become as pathetic as some of the people I've read. ;)
