Good Web Sites/Sources To Help Comp Noobie?

I have a friend that just got his first computer and Im hoping to point him to some places to learn all the very basics from. I know webopedia.com helps learn the lingo so thats a good one. But I had to show him how turn off the comp and some of the very basics....any good places for the computer new guy?

You are the very first person to capitalize the first letter of "noobie". Congratulations!

The best thing to do is not to have any important files on the hard drive and tell him to mess around as much as you want and you'll be around in a month or so to reformat if needed.

It should be "Newbie" and point them to:

1. Anandtech
2. CNN
3. Yahoo Fantasy Sports
4. Virtual Stock Exchange

The show "The Screensavers" on TechTV, and their site thescreensavers.com, is what got me knowledgable when I was a total newbie.

The guy just learned how to turn on his comp...you really think Hardware sites will make any sense? I mean on the front page of Toms its talking about cpus and p4s, I just showed him how to double click a folder yesterday....P4,Mobos and HDD...RAM....thats all Greek to him:)
