I a total newbie to setting up forums. However I really want to eventually start one on my own. I noticed that people have recommended invision as a good forum software so I'm currently playing around with it. Now i'm wondering what's a good host for forums?

Invision has a package deal just for hosting but I'm not sure if I want that because it's only for forums. However I do plan to begin with forums only in the beginning.

I also plan to have hundreds of members so what's my best option?

I guess starting off, I can pay around $20. What's the average price for a good host? I'm willing to pay more if it works well.

Wow Invision hosting is really a rip off.

50MB/10GB

$10 setup and $10 per month.

You can do A LOT better than that.

Need more info, what's your AIM?

Forums are tricky, they can load a forum down pretty quick. I just got booted off of mine even though I was the only one on it. :D (resource issues.)

I just recompiled it and it's running so mind numbingly fast I suspect I somehow recompiled my VPS to utilize all resources on the machine..

Anyhoo, I like vbulletin for it's hacks and whatnot. Rossman can probably guide you on the free ones, he's the master..
