In lieu of yesterday's weather issues, I started looking for some hi-def footage of tornadoes.

I've finally found one that I really like. Full HD, no stupid shaky cam and in the right place at the right time.

http://www.learnsomethingcool.net/hd-tornado/ -> hd ON and full screen (vid goes through my site -as it took me an hour ++ to find it).

If you find something better, post it here. Most of the YT footage sucks.

That's something. Know a few people who are storm chasers. Go down there every summer. Don't know how they do it.

Also I didn't see the 10x speed note in the beginning at first, it would be insane if they formed that fast!!

we had one drop down about a mile from my house on Aug 3rd. me and my neighbors were watching the storm approach from the north. The wind was coming right at us so an outflow, then it shifted and was coming from my back (inflow) and the clouds starting darting in all directions like in tha video. i knew then that shit was real. when the funnel got about half way down the wind stopped, and i mean stopped, creepy as hell that's when the town activate tornado sirens . i had already loaded up the car with the parrots and dog and when that siren kicked off we bugged out away from it. luckily it stayed north and tracked east as iam driving away im watching it in my rear view mirror. having that sick feeling of maybe not having a house come home to is not something i want to repeat.

we went south about a mile and stopped on a county road. i took this pic as its going back up. you can see the grasses bent flat towards its. the trees in the background is my little town.

As much as tornadoes intrigue me, I would not be directly under one to film it.

Damn! >1PPY lurker there.

I thought tornadoes were still in their center, so in theory you can drive right along with a tornado and be safe.

I've only been able to photograph one tornado, and it was a pretty small one. I'd love to see one that close - but not from right under it.

On one hand, it would be awesome to actually witness that in person. On the other hand, I would shit a rebar reinforced concrete filled cinder block.
