Good video card upgrade

I'm wanting to upgrage my VC. I'm not a gamer but will run a few games now and then. What I'm really looking for is a sharp clear images for everyday use (photoshop, word processing, internet, etc.). I would like to run a TV card with it though not necessarily the one I have now, it locks up the system everytime I exit the program. I am planning to upgrage to one of the DDR boards this fall when the price of the Thunderbird's 1.3's drop a little more so I would like it to work well with the upgrade. My budget for the card is under $150.

ATI's Radeon 64 VIVO might be a good choice for your system. I got mine for $165 shipped.

Look for Hawk - he is a trader in the FS/T Forum with impeccable credentials.

The Radeon seems to be ideal if you are not a gamer (and it is very decent for games). The N'vidia products are fast gaming cards - the MX or original with DDR would also meet your needs and your budget.

One thing about the Radeon - prepare to spend some time configuring it (if you are not lucky or have older hardware). The Radeon works perfectly with Win98 and a bit less perfectly with Win2K (although to ATI's credit they are finally updating their drivers very often with very good results).

I picked up a 64MB VIVO for $155 shipped here from the FS/FT boards. THe card is absolutely fantastic! I don't need no stinkin Digital camera now(well, the image quality isn't that great), and I don't need no DVD Player(as soon as I get a quieter heatsink/fan combo, I'm gonna use this as my primary DVD player as well🙂)
