What video cameras are currently available? i dont know anything about them, but was wondering what video camera currently out there is a GOOD video camera, not insanely expensive, but it can cost some money

looking for a good picture
easy to use
able to have long battery life.

the essentials for a video camera.

hell, someone, for fun, throw me the cost of an HD video camera, if they make them yet, for personal use.
 
I always suggest Canon because of their high-end CCDs and most models have firewire compatibility.

Beware of Sony products. A friend of mine bought one of their cameras last year and we tried using it for a school project. It turns out we had to have some special software only from Sony to edit the video on a computer...we had to reshoot a whole school project because of that crap.
 
I suggest the Panasonic 1080p Model.

While it may cost $15k and the flash drives will run $8000 a piece for roughly the same recording-length capacity as a DV tape, you will be able to capture your insurmountable debt in the most crystal-clear format available.

any modern day camera is based off of firewire/i.Link/ieee 1394 and will work with standard firewire 400 ports and any current video editing software, including WIndow's own movie maker, will be able to edit the video



TO the OP. Set a budget and we'll work from there.

the funny thing, im sure the person i am asking this question for, would have no problem affording the $15k 1080P model, with tape.

however, let me set the budget at $2k.
 
They had a pretty cool HD camera setup at best buy the other day..... Can't remember the camera but, the quality was really good...they had it streaming onto a LCD.....

dont need something that loooks so outrageous, more of a personal DV camera, but a nice one, i know that one prolly is extremely nice though.
 
The Handycam series are one of my favorites. It's a shame they don't make models where you hold it like this(this is the model I have).

What happened to the proprietary micro DV cameras Sony had?
