Good VCR for digitizing?

I'm looking into getting a new video editing setup. My first few projects will involve copying old tapes to the computer and then burning them to DVD. What's a good, basic VCR that will offer pretty good quality? I recall seeing VCRs with jog dials on the front for easy rewinding and fast forwarding to specific sections. I don't want anything too expensive, just something simple and functional. Thanks!

If you can spend $300, the Panasonic DMR-ES40VS is a combo VCR / DVD recorder that actually seems to make the dvds from vhs tapes look better than the original.

My dad got one from Sams Club for around $275 + tax.

It's a nice solution if you just want to transfer tapes with very rudimentary menus.

Nah, got a Mac to handle the video editing 🙂 Pretty neat that you can do that now, though!
