I've been driving a sienna for.. eh.. 6 and a half years now? it's a 99 but we bought it in 98.. so it would be paid for about the time the first kid went to college. It's been a good car, I'm not tired of it yet.

yeah, a Sienna is the "goal" van...eventually we'll get one of those, but probably not until we have kids. I want one that I won't mind getting a little dirty on the inside (scrapes from wood, paint, etc.). They're nice vans tho 🙂

4x8 sheets of plywood won't fit in any wagon that i know of. even volvos pretty much top out at 6 feet of cargo length. i'd recommend honda or toyota minivans.

she drove both a sienna and an odessey at her last job and didn't care for the odessey at all. she called it "gutless". now that's my woman

If its not a turbo charged caravan/voyager its crap. And no they don't have the crappy 4 speed that dies if you look at it funny. They have the good old 3 speed or 5 speed stick.

You need a man's Van!

Mazda MPV

Mans van= Full size van.

How much junk you want to haul?

Dodge made an extended full size van that is common around here.😉

I own a G20 Chevy myself.🙂

10 foot from the bottom of the front seat "perches"
to the inside of the rear doors.
I can haul 4x8 sheets of plywood/sheetrock,etc,if I clean my other junk out.

interesting...was the odyssey the 98-04 style, or the previous version that looked more station wagon like. We had an 02 Odyssey before we had the GM vans. You had the rev the hell out of it, but it had ample power to stoplight race (and embarass midsize car drivers often).

you need an old taurus wagon is what you need. we have one of those too. got it shortly after we got the second kid (he'll be 18 next week, it'll be 18 in september). it does the dirty stuff. 🙂

I'm thinking more along the minivan side of things. I hate driving big cars, like 15-passenger vans. I just need to tote speakers and computers and large pieces of wood (4' x 8' sheets).

Guess you're going to be looking for a white van only? 😛

bascially all that changed between 73 and 93 was round -> square headlights, and uh emissions.

Bought the wife a van about a year ago, Mazda MPV. IT has been excellent so far. Of course it is not in your price range, but we found the price difference for a vehicle with life left vs. new was just not worth the hassle of used. We are packing two kids along for the ride, so this thing is a God-send. I have even had people say, I don't like vans, but that is nice. 😀 I don't feel so old driving it 😉

MPVs are pretty damn cool, esp. since they upgraded the power a few years ago. downside is they are just too small for my family of 5. we take weekend trips often and I wouldn't want anything smaller that what we've got
