Good value? X2 5200 vs E6400

Checking newegg right now shows the AMD X2 5200 Windsor for $239, which is about the top of my budget. The E6400 Conroe is $222. I was all set to go with the Intel until the AMD price drop, now I'm not so sure.

I will be mildly OCing whatever I buy (don't think messing with the voltages is necessary), and I know this is where the Intel really shines, but that AMD looks like a good price.
This is for a general purpose desktop, but I will be gaming with it.

Any reccomendations?

umm, get an intel e4300 for $160

9x multiplier, easily get 2.7ghz out of it,
and be faster than that 5200 windsor, or an fx-60 or any other amd processor.

Do you already have MB and RAM for either CPU ?

The 6400 ought to be good for 3.2 - 3.4g without a voltage increase, but you have to have a MOBO and RAM that will take you there..

If you want to go the AM2 route, you should check this out ..

That is the new 65nm 3600 X2 and Motherboard for $160 ..

The 3600+ ought to do 2.6 without a voltage bump, and the 5200+ probably won't go
much higher .. ( without a voltage bump )


The 6400 ( at 3+g ) , will definitely be faster; you probably won't notice that much difference in the real world, but it will cost a bit more..

Ok, then the 6400 is the clear choice over the windsor, but if I go one price rung down, how does the E4300 stack up against the Brisbanes?
