I understand that most TN panels are 6-bit and "dither" to 8-bits, but what true 8-bit panels are available in 20 to 24" under $350?

I've tried linking into the lcdresource site but my link doesn't work.

P-MVA panel. Probably the best 24" monitor you can get for the price. However, it seems the QC on these things is a little bit flakey - some people get great monitors, and others complain about various odd problems.

Soyo 24" can add $30 off coupon too

From what have read, its a great bargain of a monitor and I dont think the QC problem is that bad, given that u can get an additional 1yr warranty by using most credit cards and/or u cld purchase 2yrs extended warranty for like $30.

I definitely prefer the Soyo QC problem to the panel lottery of Dell, Samsung and co

I guess you haven't seen this LCD then...

The Soyo is a great LCD, with a true 8-bit panel. You can pick on up at OfficeMax for $299. If you don't like it, then just take it back. You probably will like it, though. It is an awesome LCD for the price. I've bought three of them between work and home - no problems with any of them. ANother nice feature is that is has hardware scaling to 4:3. The downside is that this monitor only has DVI and VGA inputs - no component or HDMI. If you are just going to use it as a computer screen, then this won't be an issue.

the soyo really is pretty great. OSD kinda sucks and not many inputs, and the QC isnt great. but most of the time you will just be looking at it, so if you get a good one, it is a FANTASTIC, amazing deal.

Walked out of Best Buy last week with a Westy L2410NM for $345. I was able to
apply a 10% movers coupon to my purchase.

Wow, I've owned this monitor since the first (or was it second) time it was on sale for $299, and I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing it out - I now see it in the OSD menu, but basically I plugged it in and used it - never fiddled with anything.

I've recommended the Soyo monitor to some friends and one purchased two of them (using dual displays) and the other one got one. They both love 'em. I got mine with a platinum Mastercard for an extra year warranty for free.

I've got a Platinum Select that I ordered with; and I recall the thread about checking your offers page or something for the option; but I don't have that. Is there anything else I can check? Is it something they only give to people with good credit? Cause I've got perfect credit and a multi-k limit already but am sad that I don't have this warranty thingy. :(

didnt soyo file for bankruptcy and/or stiff a lot of people out of rebates in the past though? also i know a lot of people have had bad experiences with this company in the past and quality issues with other products. also what kind of customer service does this company provide, if any? i would pay more for a better brand and more peace of mind. theres a reason i would steer clear from certain companies, similar to a reason why i would never buy anything from tigerdirect.

Buy with your platinum card for warranty,
you can also get the 2 year plan for $50;
I read about one guy on this forum who got his warranty replacement on this display; he mentioned just make sure to register it with them once you buy it to expedite the process; he had some trouble because he didn't register it with them.

AFAIK you won't find a much better deal for an 8bit even after warranty costs.

Although, I'm a little disappointed on the black levels, but that's only when the lights in my room are off and I'm watching a movie or playing a game.

Also, this rebate is *instant* at the cashier, meaning you never pay $400, it starts at $300 + tax + warranty cost. Very much win in my opinion.
