Hey...since it seems that the Onvia cd-roms are starting to come in (got mine today)...I thought that I'd post what I did with it. Compgeeks.com has a standalone mp3-cd player that comes with everything (including a remote) except a CD-ROM drive for 87 bucks...mine was 93 shipped, which is a hell of a deal. Granted, it is made by the guys at compgeeks, but they still give a 1 year warrantee, and I think it's a deal, but if you don't...flame away I suppose.

Geeks Only MP3-CD Player!

I was thinking about this - but does it show id3 information? If not what's the advantage over the $87 mp3trip/genica they sell? Thanks.

Why would you ever buy this thing? It doesn't look very portable at all.... It looks like you have to plug it in to an outlet for it to work? It's also huge. You could probably spend 50 bucks more and get a dvd player that plays MP3 cds, or just go with a normal looking portable mp3 player for around the same price. Just my two cents.

Oh my lord! That thing is ugly. I'd be ashamed to place this in the living room for visitors to see... :p

A...because this has remote
B...because this has stereo out

I agree that this isn't for everyone...but a lot of people in the home theater community (like myself) have been looking for something besides an extra DVD Player (because, frankly the Apex's of the world aren't shi+ when it comes to DVD playback) that will play MP3-CDs...I thought that 87 was a good deal, especially if you have an extra CD-ROM drive burning a hole in your pocket...

"? (=Þ)", I think that if you put this thing in a car, it wouldn't work to well. CDRoms are made to put inside of a 'puter, not bumping around in a car. If you put this in a car, the CD-Rom would probably skip a bunch and then break(mis-aligned laser, etc...). If you didn't plan on driving in your car and just listening to music in it, it would probably work out great :)
