Due to a recent computer upgrade, I am getting rid of my SCSI subsystem. No big deal except I no longer have the SCSI controllers I used to use for my SCSI scanner (Microtek X6EL). I would like to get a USB scanner for under $100.00. What scanners would be recommended that are USB driven and under $100.00?

I suggest the Canon N670U. It runs entirely off of USB (no power brick); is rated highly by PC World and ZDnet; and has a good software bundle (Caere Omnipage Pro 9.0 OCR and Arcsoft PhotoStudio 2000). I have seen it as low as $79. It beats many scanners that are twice the price.

i was gonna recommend the canon 670u as well. It's one of those 1" thick models as opposed to the thicker traditional optical scanning technology. If you have a staples near you, see if the circular has a $20 gift check thing on the 670u for this week.
